I find that symlinking django and all the other libraries I need to my (virtualenv)/lib/pythonx.x/site-packages dir works just fine.
Internet connection is not so freely available where I am

From this tutoial I learned that constantly using sudo in conjunction with pip/easy_install was screwing me over. Thanks a lot!

From my experience, if you install django properly from within your virtualenv, you wont need to worry about copying your django-admin.py to your virtualenv’s bin directory. This will be taken care of for you.
